Warrant Service in Cannelton Nets More than Wanted Subject
Perry County (Cannelton): An attempt by officers to serve an arrest warrant Saturday evening in Cannelton resulted in an additional search warrant and additional charges.
Around 5:30 P.M. CST yesterday, Master Trooper Trey Lytton, Trooper Kaitlyn Greene, Perry County deputies and Cannelton officers arrived at 310 Washington Street, Cannelton, to serve an arrest warrant on James Roy White II, 42, Cannelton. White was wanted through Perry County for failing to appear on previous charges filed by Master Trooper Lytton for possessing over one and a half pounds of marijuana, a domestic battery case, and a warrant through Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
Upon entering the residence, White was located and placed into custody, without incident. During the arrest, officers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. As a result, the residence was secured and a search warrant was applied for. Upon receiving the warrant through the Perry County Circuit Court, a search was initiated, in which drug paraphernalia and baggies containing approximately 48 grams of marijuana were located.
A female, Tara S. Whistle, 37, Cannelton, and a young boy, were in the residence when officers arrived. Whistle was taken into custody and charged with five separate drug charges. The Department of Child Services was contacted to take custody of the child. White was arrested on three outstanding warrants and four additional drug related charges.
