Steuben moves to WATCH status
Steuben County Commissioners in cooperation with the Sheriff's Office, County Highway and Emergency Management have declared Steuben County to move to an Orange WATCH status. A re-evaluation will be done again at 10:00 A.M. 2/2/15
ORANGE WATCH Means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a "watch" local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations. County highway has been out in full force since 5:00 A.M. County Offices are expected to open at normal hours.
Please use caution if you have to travel today. Use your manual headlights and allow for plenty of travel time to reach your destination safely and distance between other vehicles and approaching intersections. Recent weather forecasts indicate the snow has passed however wind gusts remain. Be alert for drifting snow, especially in areas known to have blowing and drifting.
Please remember that the local advisory levels in the counties are travel advisories, which may have different meanings than the National Weather Service (NWS) notices, watches, and warnings that they issue. Please be aware of the differences.
