#SuperBowl Impaired Driving Task Force nets 28 #DUI arrests in the unincorporated areas of Baldwin Park, La Puente, Covina...
On Super Bowl Sunday, California Highway Patrol Officers saturated portions of Baldwin Park, La Puente, Covina, Glendora, West Covina, Azusa and Monrovia, looking for impaired drivers.
The Impaired Driver Task Force is comprised of 24 CHP Officers from Southern Division that are highly skilled in the apprehension of impaired drivers. The detail started at 7:00 p.m, Sunday February 1st, and ended at 3:30 a.m, Monday February 2nd. This effort resulted in a total of 28 DUI arrests.
More drinking-related crashes happen in California on the day of the National Football League championship than on any other Sunday in January and February, according to the California Department of Insurance. CHP officers see the consequences of drinking and driving first-hand.
The California Highway Patrol reminds everyone that drinking, or using illegal or prescription drugs while driving, reduces your ability to react to changing traffic conditions. Bicyclists, pedestrians and disabled vehicles are a part of our every day driving. When you combine driving, drugs and drinking the results can be fatal.
The California Highway Patrol will continue to use this task force throughout Los Angeles County in an effort to reduce fatal collisions as well as to discourage drinking and driving.
