WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT
MAYOR AMATO WOULD LIKE RESIDENTS TO KNOW THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FLASH FREEZING OF ROADWAYS AND WALKWAYS. WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT.
* HAZARD TYPES...PLUNGING TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE FLASH FREEZING OF STANDING WATER ON ROADWAYS, PARKING LOTS AND SIDEWALKS.
* ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...LITTLE IF ANY.
* TIMING...TEMPERATURES WILL DROP SHARPLY THROUGH THIS EVENING. THERE WILL BE PLUNGING TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE EVENING COMMUTE AND THEY WILL BE BELOW FREEZING BY THE END OF THE EVENING COMMUTE. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY INTO THIS EVENING.
* IMPACTS...VERY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL START ON UNTREATED ROADWAYS AS THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING CONTINUES.
SHARPLY FALLING TEMPERATURES LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL FREEZE STANDING WATER ON ROADS...WALKWAYS AND PARKING LOTS AS WELL AS CAR DOOR LOCKS.
* WINDS...NORTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 45 MPH.
* TEMPERATURES...DROPPING INTO THE UPPER 20S BY THIS EVENING AND NEAR 10 DEGREES BY MORNING.
* WIND CHILL...AROUND ZERO BY TUESDAY MORNING.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
THIS WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT SHARPLY FALLING TEMPERATURES ALONG WITH STRONG WINDS WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR FLASH FREEZING OF UNTREATED SURFACES. UNTREATED ROADS AND WALKWAYS WILL BE SLIPPERY. USE EXTRA CAUTION IF DRIVING.

JCP&L has reported some minor power outages in Berkeley. These outages have lasted a short time.
If a power outage occurs as a result of the severe weather, customers should call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link on: www.firstenergycorp.com via smartphone.
In the event of downed utility wires, you should immediately report them to JCP&L at the number above or the Berkeley Township Police Department at 732-341-6600.
Residents should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity.
