SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Shooting
DATE AND TIME: February 2, 2015 at approximately 9:45 P.M.
LOCATION: Huck Drive near County Farm Road, Sidney Township
At approximately 9:45 P.M. on Sunday, February 2, 2015, the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting on Huck Drive in Sidney Township. Officers arrived to find a thirty-six year old female with a gunshot wound to her head. Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services transported the female to Sheridan Community Hospital before she was transferred to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. The initial information learned was that the shooting was a self-inflicted injury.
On Tuesday, February 03, 2015 the female, a Sheridan area resident, succumbed to the injuries she sustained. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Sheriff Detectives continue to investigate the incident. Deputies were assisted by Troopers from the Michigan State Police and Montcalm County EMS.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
