Florence Avenue Long-Term Ramp Closure Scheudled
Santa Fe Springs and Downey – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the northbound Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) Florence Avenue off-ramp beginning Thursday,
February 5 at 10 p.m. This ramp closure will remain in effect through 2017. Detour signs will be
posted.
This ramp closure is part of the I-5 Florence Avenue Interchange Improvement Project, the fifth in a series of six construction projects to widen the Interstate 5 South Corridor by adding one carpool lane and one general purpose lane in each direction from the Orange County line to I-605. The Florence Avenue Interchange Project extends from Orr and Day Road to just south of Interstate 605 bridge, nearly two miles in the cities of Santa Fe Springs and Downey. The project will also widen structures at Florence Avenue and Orr and Day Road, and reconfigure the Florence Avenue Interchange. Construction is anticipated to complete fall, 2019.
Once completed, the project will improve corridor mobility from the Los Angeles/Orange County line to the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605), provide congestion relief, safety improvements and better facilitate the movement of goods and services.
