Single Day RR Crossing Closings Upcoming In Cochran
What: Cochran commuters should be mindful of an upcoming detour for the Norfolk Southern railroad (RR) crossings on State Route 26 (E. Dykes Street) and State Route 87 (US 23) Monday, Feb. 9 and Tuesday, Feb. 10. Norfolk Southern Railroad has a timber and surfacing gang scheduled to renovate. Construction crews will block each respective RR crossing for one day. Detour routes are required and will be posted.
Where: Motorists that typically navigate through the SR 26 (E. Dykes Street) RR crossing in the center of town will detour using SR 257 and SR 87 Bus. Those heading toward the south side SR 87 (US 23) crossing nearest to Frank Cook Road can expect to detour using SR 87 Bus, SR 26 and SR 126 depending on the destination. Signage and message boards will assist all road users.
When: As scheduled and weather permitting, RR crossing renovations begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at SR 26 and 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the SR 87 location. The crews should complete necessary crossing repairs within a single day window.
