IRS SCAM

Calls have been received from people claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service. They claim that back taxes are owed and threaten legal action if not paid immediately. Directions are given over the phone to get money to the callers. The callers often have foreign accents.

This message was first sent out in August of 2014. More calls have been received with this same scam within the last few days. Both male and female callers have been heard from, and the originating numbers may vary. If you receive these calls, please do not give them any information. If you are concerned about whether they could be legitimate, hang up and call a local IRS office. Their numbers can be found online or the police department can assist you.
