Smoke in the air and wet weather ahead!
We're told that the smoke hanging over the Valley is from controlled burns on the Eldorado National Forest.
Yes, it makes it seem like summertime, but the NWS is predicting a very significant, wet "atmospheric river" event for the next several days.
Higher winds tomorrow (Friday, 2/6/15) and rain through the weekend at lower elevations with snow above 7,500 - 8,000 feet. The high snow level is certainly not what we're hoping for right now, but we'll take moisture in any form right about now. Sandbags and sand are available at the District facility at 1810 Squaw Valley Road - they're located in the sheds to the left of the community dumpsters.
Batten down the hatches - you will only hear from us again if there is significant impact from the storm to our community.
