...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 PM EST SATURDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND RAPIDS HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW AND EXTREME COLD...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 PM EST SATURDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

* THIS ADVISORY IS PRIMARILY FOR BLOWING SNOW AND EXTREME COLD. OCCASIONAL WHITEOUTS IN BLOWING SNOW MAY DEVELOP ON SATURDAY WITH WIND CHILLS FALLING WELL BELOW ZERO.

* THE TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS WILL ONLY BE 1 TO 3 INCHES TONIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY. HOWEVER WIND GUSTS AS HIGH AS 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED BY LATE SATURDAY MORNING... CAUSING CONSIDERABLE BLOWING SNOW.

* SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE TODAY AND THIS EVENING. SNOW ENDING BY SATURDAY EVENING.

* BRUTAL WIND CHILLS OF 25 TO 35 BELOW ZEROARE STILL EXPECTED SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING AFTER THE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW SUBSIDES. IMPACTS...

* ROADS BECOMING SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS AND DELAYS POSSIBLE.

* BRIEF WHITEOUTS IN BLOWING SNOW... ESPECIALLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

* THE BITTER COLD WILL MAKE IT VERY HAZARDOUS IF YOU SHOULD BECOME STRANDED.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CALHOUN ... INCLUDING THE CITY OF MARSHALL


* THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND DRY POWDERY SNOW WILL LEAD TO INTENSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ON SATURDAY. VISIBILITIES WILL DROP TOWARDS ZERO AT TIMES. BE PREPARED TO ENCOUNTER WHITEOUTS ESPECIALLY IN OPEN COUNTRY.

* THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILL VALUES SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. FROSTBITE TIMES WILL ONLY BE ON THE ORDER OF 10 TO 20 MINUTES. LIMIT YOUR TIME OUTSIDE AND DRESS IN MULTIPLE LAYERS THIS WEEKEND.
