SUBJECT OF RELEASE: One vehicle personal injury crash
DATE AND TIME: Friday, February 13, 2015 at approximately 4:21 P.M.
LOCATION: Carson City Road (M-57) near Collins Fairplains Township.
The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one car crash on Friday, February 13, 2015 at approximately 4:21 P.M. The crash occurred on Carson City Road (M-57) near Collins Road in Fairplains Township.
The incident was originally called in as a reckless driver with reports of the vehicle travelling at varying speed within both eastbound and westbound lanes nearly causing multiple crashes. The vehicle, a 2014 Fiat 500, was eastbound and eventually left the road to the left, striking trees and overturning. The driver, a 62 year old man from Crystal, was pinned in the vehicle and was extricated by Sheridan Fire Department. He was transported to United Memorial Hospital by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services.
It was not known if the driver was restrained at the time of the crash, but airbags within the vehicle were deployed. There were no indications that alcohol was a factor, however a medical condition of the driver may have played a role.
