Campbell Co. Issues WINTER STORM TRAVEL WARNING (Level 2)
Alexandria, KY — February 16, 2015 // 9:00 am— The Campbell County Office of Emergency Management, with the concurrence of the Campbell County Transportation Department, Campbell County Police Department and the County Judge/Executive's Office has issued a Level Two Travel Warning for Campbell County, Kentucky. This travel warning is intended to notify Campbell County residents that roadways are extremely hazardous with ice and snow. Only motorists whose travel is absolutely necessary should be on the roadways.
Residents are urged to contact their employer to see if they should report to work. County officials are requesting that travel in Campbell County be limited to essential travel or emergency vehicles only.
Essential travel is defined as that travel necessitated for life sustaining means, including but not limited to; travel for medical purposes, travel for obtainment of food or water, travel for employment purposes, or travel for obtainment of heating fuel or heating sources. This travel warning is not mandatory nor is it an order declaring nonessential traffic illegal.
William R. Turner, Director of the Campbell County Office of Emergency Management urges drivers to use extreme caution and make room for snow plows and emergency crews. Turner added, “Sometimes the best winter driving strategy is just to stay home, whenever that is possible”.
This travel advisory will be rescinded by the Office of Emergency Management when, upon concurrence with the Transportation Department and County Police Department, when road conditions are no longer in a dangerous or hazardous condition.
