Wind Chill Advisory in Effect From 6 PM This Evening to Noon Thursday

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST THURSDAY.

* TIMING... VERY COLD WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES CAN BE EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH MIDDAY THURSDAY.

* WIND CHILL VALUES...10 TO 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.

* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST DUE TO THE NEW SNOWFALL...AND SOME AREA ROADS STILL SNOW COVERED FROM THE RECENT HEAVY SNOW. WITH RESPECT TO THE VERY COLD WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES TONIGHT THROUGH MIDDAY THURSDAY...FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA POSSIBLE WITH EXPOSURE IN AS LITTLE AS 30 MINUTES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES, BLOWING SNOW MAY CAUSE SNOW DRIFTS AND MAY IMPACT ROADWAYS...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE WIND CHILLS OF 10 BELOW ZERO TO 25 BELOW ZERO. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROSTBITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.

AS OVER NIGHT TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW ZERO, BE SURE TO LEAVE WATER DRIPPING, TO KEEP WATER LINES FROM FREEZING.

ALSO MAKE SURE PETS HAVE A WARM LOCATION AND ADEQUATE SHELTER AND WATER.

BE SURE TO CHECK ON ELDERLY AS WELL.
