GREENUP COUNTY WARMING CENTERS
“Fire departments across Greenup County will be available”
Fire Departments across Greenup County will have warming centers available through Friday in the event they are needed in their communities. Power outages are the main concern with temperatures predicted to drop near or below zero the next few days. Wind chills will reach deep into the negative range through Friday.
Load Fire Chief Garth Wireman says his station will be ready to assist citizens in his area. “We are concerned about the extreme cold temperatures and the potential for power outages. It does not take very long for a house to start getting cold when you lose power when it’s this cold outside with strong winds”, said Wireman.
Citizens can call 311 from a landline or 606.473.1411 from a landline or cell phone if a warming center is needed, said 911 Director Buford Hurley.
