Grand Jury Clears WFPD Officer
The Wichita County Grand Jury met yesterday and cleared Wichita Falls Police Officer Scott Poole of any criminal wrongdoing involving a shooting that occurred on 07-13-2014.
On Sunday morning, 07-13-14, just after 2 a.m. Officer Scott Poole was patrolling through a bar parking lot in the 1400 block of North Scott. At that location, he discovered an active disturbance between two rival gangs where one victim had been “pistol whipped” by a suspect. A witness on scene pointed out the suspect to Officer Poole and said “he has a gun”. The suspect with the gun fled on foot southbound across North Scott while Officer Poole pursued him in his marked police unit. As the suspect was fleeing, he tossed a handgun in the vacant lot he was in and continued to flee Officer Poole. Officer Poole caught up to the suspect at which time the suspect turned and pointed a second handgun at Officer Poole. Officer Poole then discharged his handgun striking the suspect one time. Officers performed CPR on the suspect until First Responders and AMR arrived on the scene. The suspect was transported to United Regional Health Care System where he was pronounced dead at 2:37 a.m. from his injury. The suspect was identified as Armando Noeh Aleman, Hispanic male, DOB 07-19-1979 (age 34). Both handguns that the suspect had possessed were recovered at the scene.
