On 02/20/2015 just after 10:30 am, 35 year old registered sex offender Lawrence A. Troup of Ashley, Indiana was taken into custody by Steuben County Sheriff’s detectives without incident. Troup was located in the 200 block of west Garfield Street on Ashley’s north side. An arrest warrant had been issued by the Steuben County Circuit Court on 02/19/2015 charging Troup with one count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a level 6 felony. The arrest warrant came after a Sheriff’s Office investigation into Troup allegedly not living at his registered address in rural Steuben County and failing to report required information to the Sheriff’s Office with in the lawful time frame. Troup remains held on the Steuben County Jail in lieu of a $3,000.00 bond. Sheriff’s detectives were assisted in the apprehension of Troup by the Ashley Town Marshal’s Office and the US Marshals Service Northern District of Indiana Sex Offender Investigations Coordinator Senior Inspector William Boothe.
