Livermore PD Officer Brian Geiger honored with Employee Service award.
On Tuesday 2/24, Livermore Police Officer Brian Geiger was honored with a City of Livermore Employee Service award.
Officer Geiger received the award for his professionalism, persistence, and an unparalleled level of customer service to both the community and his co-workers.
Recently, Officer Geiger assisted a transient with significant mental and physical health issues. The transient had been residing in the downtown parking garage. The transient's presence had resulted in numerous calls to the Police Department and City from concerned community members.
The Police Department and City staff had numerous interactions with the transient in the past and the transient was not receptive to various outreach efforts that were offered. The transient had been arrested on a several occasions for various violations. Due to physical and mental health issues, the transient had passed through a variety of county services, but continued to return to the parking garage almost immediately.
Through research and documentation, Officer Geiger was able to bring together the appropriate health services and to coordinate a multidisciplinary care plan, so that the transient received long term assistance and is no longer residing in the parking structure.
This problem solving effort is just one example of Officer Geiger's commitment to the community and the level of service he routinely provides. Officer Geiger's efforts are a reflection of the Department's commitment to our community.
