Department News Release: Noblesville Police Department 2014 Awards Ceremony
On February 24, 2015, the Noblesville Police Department hosted its annual awards ceremony. The ceremony took place in the council chambers located at City Hall. In attendance for the event were Mayor John Ditslear, award recipients, families, friends, members of the community, government officials and officers of the police department. Chief of Police Kevin Jowitt presented the awards based upon the following criteria:
• Lifesaving Award: A department member who performs a physical act which saves the life of another person and there is no danger to the officer’s life.
• Divisional Commendation: A department member who performs an act that distinguishes themselves by exceptional quality service to the department, the community or the member personally, for performance of duty or duties above that which is normally expected.
• Service Award: A department member who successfully completes 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, or 40 years of service with the department.
• Perfect Attendance
Lifesaving Award:
In July of 2014, Master Patrolman Brice Swart and Patrolman Don Heeg responded to a motor vehicle accident involving injury. The officers arrived on the scene and found the operator of the vehicle unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. The officers removed the individual from the vehicle, began CPR and utilized a defibrillator in an attempt to revive the individual. Lifesaving care was continued until medical personnel arrived on the scene. The individual did recover from the incident as a result of the efforts of the officers and medical personnel at the scene.

Lifesaving Award:
In August of 2014, Patrolman Brad Purvis responded to an incident of an individual needing medical attention. Patrolman Purvis arrived on the scene and found the individual unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. Building Supervisor for the City of Noblesville, Brian Stone, was driving by the incident location and observed that Patrolman Purvis was in need of additional assistance. Mr. Stone aided Patrolman Purvis by helping him move the individual to a safe location in order to provide lifesaving care until medical personnel could arrive on the scene. The individual did recover from the incident as a result of the efforts of the officer, Mr. Stone and medical personnel at the scene.

Divisional Commendation:
During 2014, Master Patrolman Brice Swart temporarily took on additional responsibilities and tasks due to an unplanned shortage in management personnel. As a result, he distinguished himself by exceptional quality service to the department and community for performance of duties above that which is normally expected.
