The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Scott County, in effect from 3am to 9pm Tuesday, March 3rd. The advisory was issued for snow and blowing snow.
• Timing: Snow will develop late tonight and taper off Tuesday afternoon as winds increase behind a cold front. The strong winds will produce areas of blowing snow through Tuesday evening.
• Snow Accumulations: 2 to 5 inches.
• Winds/Visibility: Wind gusts around 35 mph will produce areas of blowing snow and visibilities less than one mile in open areas.
• Impacts: Travel will be difficult. The morning rush may be significantly impacted by snow and the afternoon rush may be impacted with blowing snow.
Once again, Scott County is on the edge of a Blizzard Warning, which is effect for both Sibley and Le Sueur Counties. Travel is expected to be difficult in the Blizzard Warning area. National Weather Service research indicates this snowfall will generate a 25-50% increase in commute times, and potentially double or triple the number of accidents from a normal morning commute. If you must drive tomorrow, please prepare now by allowing yourself more time, driving slower, and staying cautious.
