As part of the ongoing preparation for passenger rail service, SMART contractor, Stacy and Witbeck/Herzog will be testing the warning signal system at the railroad crossing at East Cotati Avenue, in Cotati on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The testing of the warning system will involve the movement of a freight train operating through the crossing. The train will make multiple runs in both northbound and southbound directions, which will allow the contractor and SMART to verify the proper operation of the warning devices at the crossing. During these test runs, the contractor will have two flaggers present at the crossing, who will stop traffic and pedestrians prior to the approach of the train. Once the warning system is proven to function properly, the crossing will be placed in service and all warning for subsequent test runs will be provided by the operation of the gates, bells and flashing lights.
