The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar but out-of-state agencies. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, observe procedures, and visit offices and places where compliance can be witnessed. Once the commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full commission, which will then decide if the accreditation will be granted.

Chief Jowitt stated, “The accreditation process allows the members of the Agency, as well as the members of the community, to be confident that the policies and procedures that guide the Noblesville Police Department are based on current, effective and equitable best practices in policing.” Accreditation is for a three year period, during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting the continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited. This is the initial accreditation process for the Noblesville Police Department.
