Burglary suspect in custody w/help of GCSO Deputies & K9 Lor
One male in custody who was caught burglarizing a home in southwest Greene County with the help of Greene County Sheriff's Deputies and K9 Lor
On 03/10/15 at approximately 10:30 am, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home located in the 5400 block of S Stonegate in southwest Greene County. A neighbor reported a possible burglary in progress at this location. When GCSO Deputies arrived, they located a 26-year old white male armed with a knife inside the house. The suspect retreated back into the home after refusing to comply with commands and GCSO K9 Lor was deployed to assist in apprehending him; he continued to fight with GCSO Deputies even after being released by GCSO K9 Lor.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody; he is currently being medically evaluated prior to being transported to the Greene County Jail. No one else was injured.
"We have to credit an observant citizen who saw something suspicious in their neighborhood and called 911 which helped apprehend this burglary suspect," stated Sheriff Jim C Arnott. "It is the citizens of Greene County who are our eyes and ears that help us to better protect and serve our community which makes for a successful partnership."
The investigation is still on-going and charges will be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
