Soccer League Program drops in crime in excess of 90% in 4 apartment complexes

Good morning,

I wanted to share this report just completed for 2014. You may or not be aware but the Bensenville Police Department in partnership with District 100 and Fenton High School, have been working on a summer soccer league for children and adults. While it is open to everyone in Bensenville, the initial focus was to engage the residents of 4 apartment complexes.

The children playing are approximately 400 and they play on Fenton High School grounds on Saturday (mostly of School District 2 and District 205, which covers residents south of Belmont).

The adults playing are teams formed from 4 apartment complexes in Bensenville. These apartment complexes used to have high levels of police calls prior to the soccer league program.

The report was compiled from all the cases for 2014 for these complexes. The report includes each of the incidents and Appendix A provides you complete details of each incident for each complex.

Keep in mind that what you see in Raids Online or Crime Reports our two sites are "Calls" that came in to the Bensenville Police Department. These are not the cases. The report you get every month from the Community Oriented Police Division are the cases and incidents that were verified by the police officer.

Raids Online and Crime Reports are every call that comes in including crashes, accident reports, etc. It is more for situational awareness so you know when you call a suspicious car, it will show up on the map the following week. I would be happy to go over how that works. For example, we do not include alarm calls and fire department calls to make the map focus on police activity.

If you need copies of every report we send you, let me know and I can email you all the 2014 reports.

Feel free to share this report with your neighbors. If you need a copy, visit the Village Hall during business hours please.
