LASD Parks Bureau Deputies Nab Vandal from Arboretum
On March 15, 2015, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies from Parks Bureau were dispatched to The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, regarding a trespassing call.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau Deputies immediately arrived on scene. The deputies observed a large area of the fence had been cut open in an approximate square of 6 feet be 8 feet. The value of damage was estimated to be $200.00. When they looked through the fence they could see what appeared to be tail lights from an unknown type of vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Department helicopter was requested to assist the deputies. Also the deputies organized search teams to investigate the large area inside the Arboretum for a possible burglary.
During the investigation it was determined the suspect was driving a golf cart. A short time later officers from Arcadia Police Department had detained the suspect adjacent to the park in his golf cart.
After further investigation it revealed the suspect Hugh James McDonald a male white, 19 years of age and a resident of Arcadia committed the Vandalism and drove around the grounds of the Arboretum.
Suspect McDonald was arrested for Vandalism and Trespassing. He was later cited out for the offenses.
