Suspicious person at a community park leads to arrest for stolen property, drug paraphernalia and identity theft

On Wednesday, March 18, 2015, Pleasanton Police Officers responded to the Aquatic Park on Black Ave. on the report of a suspicious person and vehicle parked in the playground/picnic area. Upon contact with the subject he provided false identifying information to the officers. The subject was found to be in possession of a stolen lap top computer, various forms of identification from over a dozen people, credit cards and financial documents which were not in his name and that he apparently opened in other people’s names, and he had various items of drug paraphernalia.

During the investigation it was also discovered that the suspect is a registered sexual offender residing in Manteca. The investigation is continuing as to whether the subject was in violation of the conditions of his registration requirements, but it is important to note there were no allegations of inappropriate contact with any people or children in the park.

The subject was identified as 35 year old Manteca Resident Andrew Jonathan Hardy. He was arrested and booked in jail for identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to a police officer and possession of stolen property.

The Pleasanton Police Department relies on its partnership with their residents to keep this community safe and reminds citizens to immediately call the police and report suspicious behavior.
