BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports an Oran area man arrested for stealing.

Kevin L. Kielhofner (34) of 2162 State Highway W, Oran, Missouri has been charged with the Class A Misdemeanor of Stealing.

Sheriff Walter states that on Friday, March 20, 2015 the Sheriff’s Office responded to David’s Food Mart, 115 North Railroad, in Oran for a report of stealing. The Sheriff’s Office was advised by workers that Kielhofner came to the store on March 8, 2015 to cash a check in the amount of $200. The associate gave Kielhofner the money and then noticed Kielhofner did not sign the check. The associate gave the check back to Kielhofner and informed him he needed to sign the check.

The associate turned around to get an item and when she turned back around, Kielhofner was walking out the door and the check was not on the counter. The associate went outside and told Kielhofner she did not have the check. Kielhofner told her, “That’s not my (explicit) problem.” Kielhofner refused to assist her in anyway and left.

Deputies later located Kielhofner in the afternoon on Friday, March 20, 2015 outside of Benton at a business. Kielhofner was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail pending the filing of formal charges by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.

Sheriff Walter commends the deputies for locating Kielhofner quickly and making the arrest. Kielhofner remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $350.00 cash only. He also has an active Cape Girardeau County warrant.
