Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that 27 year old Andrew E. Miller, the buggy driver of the personal injury accident that occurred Thursday, March 19, 2015; succumbed to his injuries and passed away the evening of March 25, 2015.

SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Pickup vs horse and buggy PIA
DATE AND TIME: Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 7:29 a.m.
LOCATION: Fitzner Road between Spencer Road and Pakes
Road, Montcalm Township
Montcalm County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a pickup truck versus horse and buggy crash which occurred on Fitzner Road in Montcalm Township. The initial investigation revealed that a Southbound Amish horse and buggy swerved into the path of the Northbound pickup truck. The collision caused severe damage to both the buggy and the truck. The buggy driver was taken to United Memorial Hospital by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services and subsequently flown to Spectrum Health by Aeromed. His condition is unknown. The pickup driver was not injured. The horse died as a result of the injuries.
It's believed the horse tack may have been incorrectly connected, causing the horse to veer into the Northbound lane when the buggy driver attempted to stop the buggy. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected in the crash.
