Inmate attempts suicide in GC Jail, later dies at local hospital after family removes life support 
On 03/24/15, Greene County Sheriff's Correctional Officers responded to a possible suicide in progress of an inmate in one of the cells. 39-year old MATTHEW R DAVENPORT (w/m) had been charged with 2nd Degree Domestic Assault and was being held in lieu of a $10,000.00 bond (warrant #1531CR01451-26) since 03/22/15. He was discovered on his bed with a bed sheet around his neck.
Correctional Officers and Jail Medical Staff immediately administered medical attention and Davenport was resuscitated. He was then transported via ambulance to a local hospital. While at the hospital, he was placed on life support.
The Greene County Courts released Davenport from custody on 03/24/15. On 03/25/15,family members made the decision to remove him from life support. The Greene County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on 03/26/15.
