Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports an Oran area man arrested for domestic assault.

Mitchell Ryan Kennard (29) of 204 Haw, Oran, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Domestic Assault 2nd.

Sheriff Walter states that on Thursday, March 26, 2015 he and other deputies responded to the area of Russell and Bloomfield Street, in Oran for a report of Kennard, who was a suspect from a domestic assault, walking in the area with a knife.

Deputies located Kennard and detained him. Kennard told the deputies he had gotten into a fight with the victim over their children. Kennard stated he left the scene to calm the situation.

Sheriff Walter and deputies went to 204 Haw and located the victim. The victim stated she was in an argument with Kennard and she attempted to leave. She stated Kennard then grabbed her by the head and struck her head on the wall two times. By striking her head on the wall, a hole was placed in the wall and the light plate was broken into pieces. Kennard also hit her in the face with a closed fist.

The victim had red scratch marks on her neck. Her left eye and forehead were swollen and had bruising to them. Emergency medical services were contacted, and transported the victim to the hospital.

Deputies arrested Kennard and transported him to the Scott County Jail pending the filing of formal charges by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.

Sheriff Walter commends the deputies for locating Kennard and making the arrest. Kennard remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $1,500.00 cash only.
