Parents of Deceased Infant Charged With Neglect
Kingman-Today, arrest warrants were served on the parents of Mellanie Briere, two month old infant who was found unresponsive on October 8th of last year at the parent’s residence at 11 West State Street in Kingman, IN for Neglect of a Dependent. Mellanie was pronounced deceased shortly after EMS arrived.
Master Trooper Detective Tim Kendall along with fellow troopers from the Lafayette Post, Fountain County Deputies and the Kingman Marshall arrested the parents of Mellanie for alleged neglect of the child by mistreating the two month old by shaking or by sudden violent impact resulting in severe trauma to the head. Timothy J. Briere, 20 and Vanessa M. Larque, 20 both of Kingman were taken into custody and transported to the Fountain County Jail. Both charged with Neglect of Child resulting in Death, a Level 1 Felony and Neglect of a child, a Level 6 Felony. Bail was set at $75,000.00 apiece. Both were remanded to the custody of the Fountain county Jail.
Also assisting Detective Kendall were the Fountain County Coroner’s Office and the Fountain County Prosecutor’s Office.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
