One female in custody after leading GCSO Deputies in pursuit in Eastern Greene County & ramming a Deputy's vehicle
On Wednesday, 04/01/15, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies received information of a possible impaired driver in Eastern Greene County leaving a Kum & Go gas station in the area of E Sunshine and S Lone Pine. Employees had called 911 about a female customer who appeared intoxicated attempting to purchase alcohol and left driving a white Chevy Suburban with a flat tire, heavy front end damage and deployed air bags. Another citizen reported a person driving a vehicle with the same description had struck a brick-enclosed mailbox in the area of E Sunshine and S Forrest Heights.
A Greene County Sheriff's Detective who was in the area located and followed debris in the roadway to a driveway of a residence in the 4100 block of W Windsong. At this location, the damaged vehicle was observed and the female driver was approached in her vehicle. When the Detective tried to contact the driver, she refused to exit her vehicle and resisted arrest. The driver then repeatedly rammed the Detective's vehicle, disabling it before she sped away. The GCSO Detective was not hurt however his vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage.
Other GCSO Deputies who were in the area pursued the suspect at low speeds before the vehicle topped in the area of S Oakmont and E Latoka. The suspect who was physically combative, resisted arrest but taken into custody; she received medical attention for minor injuries prior to being transported to the Greene County Jail.
Charges will be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
