The Wichita Falls Police Department has noticed an increase in mail theft including the theft of rent payments from apartment complexes.

Unknown suspect(s) are accessing payment checks from the over night payment drop slots.  All apartment residents are encouraged to avoid using payment drop boxes and make all payments in person. 

If a check is stolen, citizens need to contact Police to file a report.  In addition, it is advisable to call the bank immediately to close the current account and open a new one.

The Police Department is encouraging apartment managers to modify the drop boxes to help deter this type of theft.
