911 Dispatchers Recognized for Excellence Leading to the Arrest of Kent Mercantile Robbery Suspect

For Immediate Release: April 6, 2015

MADISON, INDIANA. On Monday, April 6, 2015, three 911 dispatchers from the Jefferson County 911 Central Dispatch Center were recognized for excellence in the performance of their duties. Communications Supervisor Michael Woolard, Dispatcher Kasha Bell, and Dispatcher Alicia New were all recognized by 911 Director John Hendrix for outstanding performance leading to the apprehension and arrest of the Kent Mercantile robbery suspect on Saturday, March 28th, 2015.

911 Director John Hendrix issued a Certificate of Excellence along with a Letter of Commendation to each of the dispatchers. Director Hendrix told the dispatchers, “Your ability to quickly access BMV files for vehicle and suspect information while also starting an emergency cell phone trace, all while fielding calls from multiple agencies, serves as a shining example of your abilities and your dedication to duty. That you were able to do this while handling a crime scene that rapidly expanded to involve three separate areas while the suspect was fleeing to northern Indiana is to be commended. Your performance in quickly and efficiently handling this call led directly to the swift apprehension of the armed robbery suspect by the Indiana State Police in Brownsburg, Indiana.”
