Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies, Ellettsville PD and ISP K9 Drogos Apprehend Felony Suspect
Ellettsville – Just after 11 o’clock yesterday morning, Monroe County 911 received a call from a male victim at 9634 Elwren Road indicating a man was threatening to kill him with a knife. The complainant stated that an unknown white male had showed up at his house, barefoot, and wanted to borrow his vehicle. The victim stated the man was around 25 years old and in possession of a knife. He also told police the man appeared to be “under the influence of drugs.”
Once learning that law enforcement was on their way, the man reportedly ran to an adjoining house and stole a truck that was last seen heading towards State Road 45. The truck was pursued by both the sheriff's department and Ellettsville Police before fleeing near Dutch Ridge on Red Hill Road.
Just before 3 PM, the truck was located in the 8000 block of Red Hill Road where the suspect had fled. Just before 3:30 PM, Monroe County received a call from an area resident stating that someone had broken into their basement, and several fire arms and clothes were missing.
Trooper Allen Deel and K-9 Drogos were then contacted to track the suspect from the residence of 7651 Red Hill Road. Trooper Deel, K-9 Drogos and three Monroe County deputies began to track the suspect through the woods where they quickly found a cell phone, a pair of binoculars and several rounds of ammunition the suspect had taken from the residence. After officers were told a camouflage jacket and pants were also missing from the residence, the track continued for another half mile through a wooded area where K-9 Drogos and the officers located the suspect covered in leaves, attempting to hide on the ground. After Trooper Deel gave the suspect a warning to put his hands up or the canine would be released, the suspect complied; putting his hands up immediately.
The suspect was taken into custody by the Monroe County deputies
The suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen firearms and was wearing the stolen camouflage clothing. The suspect was transported to the Monroe County Jail and was charged for several felonies.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
