Press Release regarding overnight motor vehicle crash on West Genesee St in the Town of Camillus

CAMILLUS, NEW YORK, April 9, 2015 – The Camillus Police Department along with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred on West Genesee Street between Hunt Avenue and Myrtis Road in the Town of Camillus. The accident occurred at 2231 hours involving four vehicles. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Ford Expedition operated by Danny L. Lewis (02/03/1967) of 120 Marvin Road Syracuse, New York was traveling eastbound on West Genesee in the area of Hunt Avenue when Mr. Lewis suffered a medical condition causing the vehicle to accelerate at a high rate of speed and then losing control of the vehicle. The vehicle then struck another vehicle traveling eastbound on West Genesee Street near Hunt Ave, Mr. Lewis’s vehicle continued eastbound on West Genesee Street when his vehicle left the north shoulder of West Genesee Street severing an electric pole and over turning several times coming to rest in the parking lot of 3548 West Genesee Street.
Mr. Lewis and the front seat passenger, Yvette Noble (01/22/1967) were transported to Upstate University Hospital with life threatening injuries, two rear seat passengers, Shachana Noble (08/24/2000) and Heaven Noble (01/06/2005) were also transported to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. We are continuing our investigation regarding this crash. Impaired driving does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
Westbound West Genesee Street between Onondaga Road and Sunnybrook Road will remain closed for several hours as National Grid crews repair damage from the crash.
