03/19/2015- 7430 Whitmore Lake Rd- Whitmore Lake High School- Larceny- The victim reports an unknown subject stole their cell phone from the school. There are no suspects and the case is still under investigation.
03/22/2015- 300 Block of Fairmount- Damaged Property- The victim reports that two of her vehicles were damaged when raw eggs were thrown onto the vehicles. The case has been turned over to the Washtenaw County Prosecutors Office for Review.
03/27/2015- 300 Block of Dartmoor- Fraud- The victim reports that they were the victim of an internet sale scam. The victim forwarded money for a potential sale of a boat. The case is currently being investigated by the Northfield Detective.
03/29/2015- 500 Block of Amethyst – Home Invasion-The caller reports a possible break in of an empty unit. The officer located a forced open front door and that the interior was trashed. The trailer has been vacant for several years. The park managers were notified to secure the door. There are currently no suspects in this case.
03/30/2015- 8000 Block of Lake Pine Dr- Damaged Vehicles- During the night hours an unknown subject flattened 6 vehicle tires along the 8000 Block of Lake Pine Dr. The suspect used a sharp instrument to puncture the tires. There are currently no suspects in the case.
Don’t fall prey to pressure and what appears to be contact from the IRS
The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information. Neither will the IRS contact you via text messages or social media.
Per the IRS website; do not fall for phone and phishing scams that use the IRS as a lure.
Thieves continue to represent themselves as an agent of the IRS, offering bogus refunds or threatening payment for unpaid taxes.
The IRS does not ask for PIN’s, passwords or confidential information on credit card or bank accounts.
If you get an unexpected email, do not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message; instead the IRS is requesting that you forward the email to [email protected].
Again, NEVER give personal information over the phone unless you initiate the call and/or are sure of the recipient.
