Attempted Robbery - 1900 block of E. Menlo Blvd.
On Tuesday, April 14, at 6:27 PM, an attempted robbery occurred in the 1900 block of E. Menlo Blvd. The 15 year old victim was walking east on the sidewalk when an unknown suspect approched him and asked to use his cell phone. The victim declined and 3 to 4 more suspects got out of a nearby parked minivan and attacked the victim. The victim was knocked to the ground, but he was able to get up and run away. The suspects attempted to steal the victims back pack and cell phone, but they were unsuccessful. The suspects then got into the van and drove away, northbound on N. Murray Ave.
Officers observed the vehicle as it fled north on N. Morris Blvd. at a high rate of speed. Officers lost sight of the vehicle and it was observed again in Glendale. The suspects continued fleeing into the City of Milwaukee. The van, which was stolen, was later found abandoned in Milwaukee. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
Witnesses described the main suspect as a black male, 16-17 years old, 5'09, 150lbs. dread locks, gold teeth, wearing a white t-shirt. The only description given of the other suspects was 3 to 4 black males ages 16 to 19 years old.
