The woodlot at ARL is now open
The woodlot operated by the Municipality of Anchorage Solid Waste Services (SWS), located at the Anchorage Regional Landfill (intersection of Glenn Highway and Hiland Road Exit) will open for the season today Friday, April 17, 2015. This is an annual service provided by SWS. This year, with the increasing temperatures, and low snowfall during the winter season, Director Paul Alcantar has authorized an early opening to help residents with responsible spring cleaning and clearing. The lot will be open every Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for use at no charge to residents of the Municipality of Anchorage. Debris brought to the woodlot should be only from residential property, no commercial and no land clearing debris will be accepted. Wood must be cut in 6 foot or less lengths. No stumps, garbage, lumber or construction materials. When entering the Anchorage Regional Landfill (ARL), please notify scale house staff that you are visiting the woodlot, and follow signs directing you to the specified area. An attendant will be on site to answer any questions you might have. A reminder that all loads brought to the ARL must be secured or covered, and no scavenging for firewood is allowed. Please make a separate trip for garbage & recycling. Mixed loads (garbage, recycling, woodlot) will be charged normal rates for dumping.
