Information about Soliciting in the City of Noblesville
Spring is finally here! The nicer weather means solicitors will be out in full force. Take some time to educate yourself on Noblesville’s City ordinance regarding door-to-door solicitation.
1. The Solicitor Administrator conducts a background check on every solicitor a company wishes to use in our City limits. They are checked through 9 different databases. After the background check is done, it goes to the Chief for the approval/denial.
2. Every solicitor that has passed the background check and has been permitted MUST have an ID Badge that is issued by the Noblesville Police Department. It includes their permit number, picture, name, company, and expiration date. They must be wearing at all times (while knocking in Noblesville) on the outer most layer of their clothing. An example of the badge is attached to this post.
3. If your neighborhood has a “No Solicitation” sign posted, it will not stop the solicitors from knocking on your doors. The best way to keep them away from your house is to post a “No Trespassing” or “No Soliciting” sign on your personal property. If a permitted solicitor ignores your signage (and that information is reported), their permit can be revoked.
4. They are not allowed to solicit any time before 9am or after 8pm.
