prescription drug abuse efforts will assist sworn officers.
Montgomery County offers residents twenty-five (25) convenient locations where the public
can confidentially dispose of unwanted medications all year long and at no charge.
Montgomery County District Attorney’s Drug Take-Back program started on April 17, 2010.
513 pounds of pharmaceuticals were collected during that first event. 9,211 pounds of
prescription medications have been collected in Montgomery County since April, 2010.
District Attorney Ferman said, “Time and time again we see heroin addicts in our
Courtrooms that started down that path with pills that they first obtained from a medicine
cabinet filled with unused dangerous prescriptions. Removing unneeded and unused
prescription medications from the home medicine cabinet is one way to eliminate the source
of supply for addicts and prevent access to the dangerous drugs by teenagers and young
adults.”
