The City of Maricopa Police and Fire Departments Host Successful Car Seat Safety Event.
Certified Car Seat Technicians from both the City of Maricopa Police and Fire Departments worked together during yesterday’s Car Seat Education event held at Fire Station 575. Technicians installed and inspected 18 car seats and educated families on the safety of the proper use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts. A highlight of the day was that the car seat program was also able to donate 2 free car seats to qualifying families.
Certified car seat technicians are made up of Police Officers, Fire personnel and civilian employees who completed a course through the National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training in partner with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Car Seat Program for the City of Maricopa was reinvigorated to better serve the citizens of the City of Maricopa thanks to a grant for Car Seat Education through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
The Car Seat Safety Program is planning on holding quarterly events for Maricopa residents. Residents who are interested can call the Maricopa Police Department at 520-316-6898 Monday- Friday 7:00-5:00pm to schedule an appointment for the next Car Seat Safety event.
The Maricopa Police Department and Maricopa Fire Department would like to remind residents to Buckle Up. When seat belts and child passenger seats are used correctly, the risk of hospitalization, injury, and death is greatly reduced.
