The Mercersburg Police Department investigated a reportable accident involving an empty school bus at 241 Loudon Road, Mercersburg on 04/24/2015 at 3:00 p.m.

Both Operators received minor injuries. Operator # 1 was transported to the Chambersburg Hospital by the MMP&W Fire Company Ambulance. Operator # 2 was not treated.

OPERATOR # 1: Angel M. RIFE, 12114 Buchanan Trail West, Mercersburg, PA 17236

VEHICLE # 1: 2005 International School Bus, Owned by Bernie MILLER Sr. & B. John MILLER Jr., 14622 Buchanan Trail West, Mercersburg, PA 17236. School Bus was empty. Minor damage was done to the school bus and it was driven from the scene.

OPERATOR # 2: Calvin E. BRICKER Sr., 13230 Locust Level Road, Greencastle, PA 17225.

VEHICLE # 2: 2014 Chevrolet Van. Owned by Operator # 2. Received major damage to the left rear and was towed from the scene by Choice Collision.

Both Units # 1 & 2 had been stopped at the red light on North Main Street at the intersection with Loudon Road. Unit # 1 was an empty school bus and Unit # 2 was a Van truck. Unit # 2 turned left onto Loudon Road on the green left arrow. Unit # 1 turned right on Loudon Road when her light turned green. Unit # 1 was behind Unit # 2 while both were travelling north on Loudon Road. Unit # 2 stopped in the north lane with the intent to turn left into 241 Loudon Road, (Fred B. NAIR’s TV & Appliance Store). Operator of Unit # 1 applied her brakes; however, was not able to avoid the collision. The right front of Unit # 1 struck the left rear of Unit # 2.
