The Southern Pines Police Department is pleased to announce the Employee of the Quarter Award for the 1st Quarter of 2015. This award recognizes police department employees who have provided exemplary service to the community or performed in a manner worthy of recognition. This award is the result of a peer nomination and action by the supervisory and command staff of the Southern Pines Police Department.
Sergeant Jason Embler is the recipient of this award for the 1st Quarter of 2015. Sergeant Jason Embler was selected due to his tenacious efforts in investigating incidents which occurred during the 1st Quarter of 2015. These incidents included the following:
• Sergeant Embler conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of two suspects wanted for armed robbery and, along with his K-9 partner “Kelly,” recovered property belonging to the victim.
• Sergeant Embler initiated a surveillance operation in which a suspect was observed operating a stolen motor vehicle. This investigation led to the arrest of one suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle, along with additional charges for narcotics violations.
• During the first quarter of 2015, Sergeant Embler recovered 269 grams of marijuana, 24 items of drug paraphernalia and was responsible for the recovery or more than $1,300 of stolen property.
Sergeant Jason Embler is the supervising officer of the Southern Police Department’s K-9 Unit and works daily with his K-9 partner “Kelly.” In the award letter presented to Sergeant Jason Embler, Chief Temme stated:
“I, along with your peers are continually impressed by your gifted ability to recall information including but not limited to names, vehicles, license plate numbers and a host of other pertinent historical information. Your capability to first obtain this information and then share it at the appropriate time with others both inside and outside the Southern Pines Police Department, has solved crimes that would have otherwise gone unresolved.”
The Southern Pines Police Department is proud to recognize Sergeant Jason Embler with this award. He represents the professionalism and dedication to the community which is indicative of all members of the Southern Pines Police Department.
