Man Flown to Hospital with Second and Third Degree Burns
Riverbank, CA – At 12:23 PM today, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District (SCFPD) responded to the 2600 block of Patterson Road for a report of a burn victim. A 60-year-old man was discovered engulfed in flames on a bench outside the facility, but the fire had been extinguished prior to emergency responders’ arrival. The SCFPD crews provided emergency medical care for the patient and set up a landing zone for the air ambulance at nearby Rio Altura Elementary School. The patient was flown to the hospital with second and third degree burns to his chest, head, face and airway.
The circumstances surrounding how the patient caught fire are unknown at this time and the incident is being investigated by the Riverbank Police Services.
