Two burglary suspects apprehended in the Hughann subdivision early this morning.
On 4/30/2015 at 4:05am officer Matt Wappler was on foot patrol in the 2600 blk of Miller in response to three vehicles that had just been burglarized on Elizabeth st. Officer Wappler observed a suspect dressed in dark clothing walking down the middle of the street. He then observed the suspect attempt to open the door to a truck. The suspect then walked up the driveway to a house in the 2700 blk of Miller and enter a Ford PU. The suspect was inside the vehicle a short time digging through the contents when officer Wappler announced his presence. Two suspects fled on foot in opposite directions. After a short foot pursuit, both of the suspects were apprehended. Officers were able to recover property from both suspects and property they discarded during the foot pursuit that was taken in the earlier burglaries. Officers additionally located the suspect's vehicle and recovered several firearms, cell phones, GPS units and other electronics that the suspects stashed during the course of the burglaries. A 19yoa and 21yoa suspect from Port Arthur were arrested for burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a building and evading arrest/detention. Additional charges are pending. Investigators are in the process of identifying and returning the stolen property to their owners.
