Bellflower Partners with LA County Sheriff to put on Community Academy for Residents

We are going to be holding a community academy on May 20th, 27th, June 3rd and 10th at Thompson Park from six to eight P.M. Attendance for all four nights is expected. The program will be put on by our Special Assignment Officers working out of the Bellflower Substation. Their goal is to introduce the public to the tactics that law enforcement uses to identify and prevent crime, while simultaneously showing you the road blocks to achieving those goals. The academy will consist of three different parts: educational material, guest speakers and hands on experience. Some of the guest speakers will include the Captain of Lakewood Station, K-9 dog handlers and Aero Bureau. Our hands on experience will consist of a tour of Lakewood Sheriff Station and multiple scenarios put on by our Special Assignment Officers. The goal of the scenarios is to show our participants the difficult decision making that our law enforcement professionals make on a daily basis. The academy will be a total of eight hours, and attendance to all four meetings is expected. We will be giving a certificate of completion to all those who are in attendance for the full eight hours.

The class is open to Bellflower residents only. Class size is limited, so if you would like to attend please contact me as soon as possible with your name, date of birth and home address.
