Man Arrested for Drunk Driving with Son in Car
St Joseph County – A South Bend man was arrested Saturday evening for drunk driving with his 4-year-old son in the car and cited for never having a valid driver’s license.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. Indiana State Police Trooper Corey Sauer stopped Gustavo Mora, 40, for a traffic violation in the area Olive Street and Sample Street in South Bend.
Purportedly Mora was showing signs of intoxication while speaking to Sauer. Trooper Sauer also noticed that a young boy, identified as Mora’s son, was riding in the car unrestrained in the back seat.
Further investigation by Sauer revealed that Mora had never been issued a driver’s license which is a misdemeanor in Indiana. Mora also had a blood-alcohol content level more than two times the legal limit. The legal limit for motorists in Indiana is .08 percent.
Mora was arrested for felony operating while intoxicated causing endangerment and never having a valid driver’s license. He was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.
Mora’s girlfriend took custody of his son after arriving at the scene of the traffic stop.
*All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
