Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Benton, Missouri man arrested for Burglary, Stealing, and Drug Paraphernalia.

Michael B. Gunter (24) of 5798 State Highway 77, Benton, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Burglary in the Second Degree, the Class C Felony of Stealing, and the Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sheriff Walter states that on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 a deputy responded to an area outside of Benton in reference to a theft from a construction site of a new residence. It was discovered that over $6,000.00 worth of tools were stolen from the work site.

On Sunday, May 3, 2015 a deputy went to Gunter’s residence to speak with him. The deputy arrived and located several of the stolen items on the back porch. No contact could be made at the residence. The victim was contacted and arrived and identified the items as his tools.

A search warrant was granted for the property and served by the Sheriff’s Office. Located inside were more stolen items and a glass pipe with burnt residue. The pipe field tested positive for methamphetamine.

On Monday, May 4, 2015 deputies went to a residence outside of Benton to locate Gunter. Gunter was located, arrested, and transported to the Scott County Jail without incident. Gunter was booked in the jail pending the filing of formal chargers by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.

Gunter remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $5,000.00 cash only.
