SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Private property injury accident

LOCATION: 2985 North Sheridan Road, Douglass Township.
The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a private property injury accident that occurred at Anderson and Girls Orchard, 2985 North Sheridan Road, Stanton. The accident occurred at approximately 11:38 AM on Thursday, May 07, 2015.
The investigation determined that Michelle Lynn Dehaan, age 45 from Stanton, was standing on the tongue of a dual axle trailer used to give tours of the orchard. The trailer was being towed by a tractor when Dehaan lost her footing, fell to the ground, and was struck by the metal frame of the trailer; however, the operator of the tractor was able to stop the trailer before Dehaan was run over by the trailer’s tires.
Dehaan was transported to Sheridan Community Hospital by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services and later flown to Spectrum in Grand Rapids by Aeromed. Dehaan is believed to have sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.
Michelle Dehaan is a volunteer for Anderson and Girls Orchard. The trailer was occupied at the time but none of those passengers were injured.
