and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
05/04
Vehicle Damage: A caller reported that workers clearing brush kicked up rocks with their equipment causing damage to the caller’s vehicle that was parked nearby. Information was taken from both parties for insurance purposes and the individual causing the damage was advised to discuss matters with the property owner as it was ultimately a civil matter.
Civil Dispute: A caller reported a problem getting her belongings back from her ex-boyfriend. An officer advised the caller that it was a civil issue but could trespass her ex-boyfriend since he doesn’t live there anymore. The caller declined.
Disturbance: A caller reported an individual on his porch that would not leave. The individual was trespassed from the residence by an Officer.

Lost Property: A fuel can with fuel in it was reported lost along the highway between Valdez and Thompson Pass. If found, please turn in to the VPD.
Criminal Mischief: The City baler reported damage to a dumpster by construction material that was dumped in causing the lid to break. An investigation is on-going.

DUI: McCune, Ryan John, DOB 09/30/1974, of Valdez was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. McCune’s breath-alcohol content was measured at .158
Alarm – Burglar: A burglar alarm at the Valdez Museum was reported. Construction workers are on the roof and accidently set off the alarm.
Found Property: An Old Navy jacket was turned in. Please call to identify.
Warrant Arrest: Honea, Cody D., DOB 09/18/1992, of Valdez was arrested for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of violating conditions of release on an existing case. He was released on $500 bail.
Summons: Brusky, Peter A., DOB: 8/2/54, of Valdez was charged with two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 2nd Degree, Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree, and Seven Counts of Reckless Endangerment after he was taken into protective custody for overindulging in alcoholic beverages. Investigation revealed that Brusky had fired at other residences while highly intoxicated.
Traffic Complaint: VPD received a traffic complaint in regards to the heavy equipment drivers by passing the stop sign @ Kobuk & Chitina Street by cutting through the parking lot. Drivers were advised that they were still required to stop coming out of the parking lot.
Vehicle Theft: A caller reported his 1996 Chevy Corsica, license GML201, taken from Fairbanks 3-4 weeks ago. The caller was told that the vehicle may be in Valdez. Officers were unable to locate a vehicle with that license plate.
Animal Noise: A caller reported that a dog was ‘screeching’ somewhere in the neighborhood. Officers responded and could not find a dog barking or screeching.

Alarm – Burglar: A burglar alarm at the Valdez Museum was reported. Construction workers are on the roof and accidently set off the alarm.
Theft of Property: A caller reported that one of her animals was taken from her residence while she was away. Officers located the animal with one of the callers friends. The individual said he would let her know that he had it.
Parking: Several complaints have been received in regards to vehicles parking in the handicapped parking at the civic center.

Fish & Game: A moose was hit at 18 mile. The vehicle sustained extensive damage and no injuries were reported. The moose was salvaged and donated to charity.
Trespassing: A suspicious person was reported trying to gain entrance to the Coast Guard building. Upon arrival, Officers were unable to locate the individual or his van.
Stalking: A caller reported that an individual has been following her and always showing up at her place of employment. This case is under investigation.
Possible DUI: A caller reported driving behind a pickup outbound on the tide flats that was driving erratically and then turned on to Mineral Creek Loop Road. Officers patrolled the area but did not find a vehicle matching the description.

Fish & Game: A caller reported a gill net set in Ruth Pond and was upset that fish were being caught. Upon arrival it was determined the netting was part of the sod that was installed and a small piece of netting was in the pond. Approximately 4-5 fish were caught in the net; the live ones were returned to the pond and the dead fish were disposed.
Burglary – Residential: A chainsaw and prescription medication were reported taken from a residence. Officers found the chainsaw in the backyard in a boat. An investigation is continuing.
Bear Incident: A bear was reported on the bike path. Upon arrival, an officer noted three bears who were all behaving themselves.
05/10
Noise Disturbance: A red SUV with occupants parked outside a B & B who were talking loudly and keeping patrons awake was reported. The occupants were asked to leave but refused. An officer was unable to locate any vehicle or individuals in the area matching the description.
Assault Simple: A caller reported being sucker punched by another individual at a local bar the night before. An investigation is on-going.
Theft of Property: An ATM card was reported stolen. An investigation is continuing.
It’s that time of year again. The bears are out so please be aware of your surroundings and keep your trash secured in an enclosed area.
